The council just voted 7-2 to reconsider the emergency ordinance. CM Morales made the motion, which may suggest she is ready to switch her vote, perhaps pending an amendment.
CM Lewis introduced an amendment to keep the super-green Living Buildings in traditional design review (if they're already in it) rather switching to administrative review. However it failed 3-6, with only Herbold and Pedersen joining him.
"I was elected to stop displacement," CM Morales said. "Making the development process easier rarely helps the communities I represent." Still, Morales said she was a yes, but added this was the last concession she'd make to developers.
CM Herbold said she looked for a way to support the ordinance, but not having her amendment included was a dealbreaker. She argued it's not consistent with the governor's order to expedite affordable housing.
CM Juarez: "For the love of god let's vote." Gonzalez agreed and added that she had a different read on the governor's order than Herbold's more conservative reading.
