Why is this important? Low-income communities and communities of color are often hit first and worst by climate impacts. However, coastal resilience projects that expand equitable access can also improve "the ability of coastal communities to withstand climate change."

According to the report, "communities of color are three times more likely than white communities to live in nature-deprived places, and 70 percent of low-income communities across the country live in nature-deprived areas."
