If you were to improve 1% every day, in a year you would be 38x better. Small stuff matters.

The Levels of Problem-solving: Level 1 — You solve the problem. Level 2 — You solve the problem that caused the problem. Level 3 — You avoid the problem that caused the problem. Level 3 is the most valuable but hardest to see.

I've been thinking lately, when there are too many alignment meeting across products to get a small thing done, that is a reflection of the system architecture and a lack of shared focus around the goals, and how that system should scale to meet those goals.

Good quote from “this year Apple’s GAAP earnings will essentially equal the combined profit from Google, Microsoft, and Amazon. Despite this, investors value Apple’s market cap at $1.4T compared to the $3T market cap of the other three companies combined”

In the last year or two, I’ve noticed every time you saw Kobe, he had his little girl with him. Teaching her, leading her. Forget about the player he was, that’s the kind of dad I want to be. Sorry for the serious tweet but I admired him for that a lot.

“We all feel a deep sense of loss for what he meant to all of us in so many ways. And so many millions of people loved him for so many different reasons." —Pop on the tragic loss of Kobe Bryant

Years ago Kobe was suspended for calling a ref a fucking fag in a heated moment. He didn’t give a weak apology and yell “triggered!” He learned from it. Actually put in work. Worked with GLAAD. Called out his own fan for calling someone gay in his mentions. People can grow.

Dinner convo: Feels like there’s a crisis of happiness among mid-20s Bay Area yuppies As Maslow’s Hierarchy is fulfilled, they focus on self-actualization & are less happy And 2 popular non-professional anchors of actualization—family and religion—are uncommon/unpopular in 20s

RIP Clayton Christensen. So many of my life decisions and business knowledge are from your work or derivatives of it. You will be missed 😭

The best part of the 2020s is going to see working on mental health shift from being stigmatized (or sold a bunch of snake oil) to becoming an area of open discussion and constant improvement. A shift from mental illness to Mental Fitness

There’s no investment where money works as hard as it does in a tech startup. Driven founders, leveraged with code, capital, media, and intellect, sweating every dollar spent. An enlightened society would educate investors, not restrict them.
