“Today, infrastructure doesn’t exist to allow hydrogen to go from the production point to the aircraft. We’re developing hydrogen capsules that will be used for storage so that we remove all the barriers related to infrastructure.” Lucie Ravelojaona, Principal Engineer.

(3/3) Curtailing aviation traffic would slow globalization--and the peace and prosperity that come with it. We are already starting to see flight shaming and flight bans. Given the lengthy product cycle times, we have a narrow window in which to try and make an energy transition.

(2/3) So to get anywhere near the kind of emissions reductions needed to meet Paris Agreement goals, either aviation switches to a new energy storage modality (a new fuel) that eliminates emissions. Or we will almost certainly have to curtail traffic volumes.

(1/3) Aviation traffic volumes have consistently doubled every 15 years since the birth of the jet age. Aircraft efficiency improvements have been incremental (approximately 30 years doubling time) and have not kept pace with this exponential growth in traffic.

yes it's for liquid hydrogen. the hydrogen is gasified at the very end before being put into the fuel cell.
