If Labour abstains on this, I’m done with them. After 68 years.

This must be stopped. No ifs, ni buts, no abstain.
@UKLabour@Keir_Starmer you MUST oppose this.pic.twitter.com/4nhQ32bI8Z

Although I agree with the sentiment, I object to the jingoism. ‘We’ didn’t win two world wars. Both victories were only achieved by international effort and with oceans of allied blood being spilt.

To be fair, if a protest doesn't cause "serious annoyance" to someone then it's not being done correctly
-
It should also be noted that when police infiltrators with spy cop powers are embedded in protests, it's 100% guaranteed that these events will contravene the law, allowing the police to break them up violently and arrest people. This law must be defeated for the good of the UK

The point of protest is to disrupt in some way in effect, to cause “serious annoyance”, or it wouldn’t have the impact it needs. It’s only totalitarian states that seek to ban peaceful protest. Is this what the UK has become?

Why

It is a pretty draconian piece of legislation and runs counter to British democratic principles that allow for peaceful protest. I hope that backbenchers will see it off.
-
It's completely self defeating. If you stop peaceful protest then any future protests by definition, will not be peaceful.
