Listen, men have representation. Little boys have representation. Women do not have a lot of representation, and it is 2018. I’m getting kind of sick of every time something cool happens that has good representation for women that people immediately cry “BUT WHAT ABOUT MEN??”

I am not arguing, I don't agree, but I'm not arguing. I don't agree because I don't know. I don't see women not being represented, mainly because I am not a woman, so I am not feeling misrepresented as one. That being said, I think attractive and rich men are represented, not all

What men aren’t represented? You think most movies are about rich dudes? That’s ridiculous. The main character in half of all movies is just an average white dude.

I think that is where the disconnect is. It's almost always a celebrity or attractive guy portraying an average white dude. I think that is why many guys get really defensive, it's not easy to see, but the guys we have representing us are more alpha than most. (1 of 2)

This representation may be what women want, but it does not represent a large population of men. So the men it does represent get empowered and sought after, while others just stay quiet. We try to find our own way. We don't get sympathy for that because of the stigma of men

Come on, don’t feed me some incel bullshit. I can name like 15 famous dudes that are not conventionally attractive and are/we’re very famous. Can you name even 5 women that fit that? Don’t tell me that average men aren’t represented when Seth rogen and Jonah Hill are doing fine

Haha, that is one thing I have always been hung up on... I would think Seth and the Skinny Jonah would be considered attractive. I have always been bad at guessing who women find attractive. As for women leads, no. "Unconventionally pretty" girls ...

Okay, but there’s a difference between being conventionally attractive and unconventionally attractive. They are attractive, because average people are decent looking. But women have none of those average people

I don't disagree, but i do wonder if... makeup and costume design/ being able to afford quality clothing has anything to do with that. The image of women being camer-ready or out on the town is different than just an average woman. Does that make sense?

I mean, yeah, but that’s also because they’re conventionally attractive and can easily find clothes that were designed just for them. Like most of the clothing industry is targeted towards thin women.

That is a valid point. I was going to write something, but as I was writing it, I came to the realization that most female characters are probably perceived as being appealing to men. Which is not something I overlooked completely, I just overlooked a crucial angle

And male characters are also usually made for men. Female characters designed for women viewers are still very often made for men too.

I want to see both. I hope more women make more productions. I want to see something that appeals to both men and women. Some of my favorite content creators are women. I still would like more of what we already get. I prefer more opposed to consolidation.
