threatens our ability to enact the kind of transformative change we need at this moment in history. Truly undoing its corrosive impact on our democracy requires a change in law, which is why the first bill i'm cosponsoring is for a full repeal of the statute.

Yesterday, Congress voted to lift a 181 year ban on headwear to make the more inclusive for all. I thank my colleagues for welcoming me, and I look forward to the day we lift the Muslim ban separating families all over the U.S. from their loved ones.

Ordinary people already struggling to put food on the table shouldn’t have to finance a green transition. It’s corporate executives who fucked the planet - they should pay the cost. Got a lot of love for Caroline Lucas, but today AOC has really shown how it’s done.

Whatever your other thoughts on Bastani, and my own aren't universally positive, he deserves solidarity from fellow qualitative researchers. The attack on Bastani's thesis ultimately hinges on the tired view that ethnographic research doesn't meet the standards of 'objectivity'.

Short thread on , who has spent the last couple of weeks bizarrely (and haphazardly) attempting to smear and derail left-wing commentator as part of the 'Bastani PhD truther' alt-centrist conspiracy theory. ↓

An attempt to humiliate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez by releasing this video of her dancing in college has backfired spectacularly

  8. This while absurd brouhaha about 's thesis methodology makes it even more obvious that basically no-one outside academia understands what academics actually do -- even people who have undergraduate degrees. (1/4)

In just 3 months I’ll be defending and prosecuting in the Courts of England and Wales. I’m 24. I’m mixed-race. I’m from Essex. I’m not posh. I worked hard and NEVER listened when people said the Bar wasn’t for people like me. THIS is what a barrister looks like.

How fucked up is a society where workers are sacked for exceeding their allowed 'loo time' (6 mins per day) for not being efficient cogs in the wheel, but same workers have to work ~196 years to earn the same as their CEO 😳🤷‍♀️

I don't see why anyone has to prove their academic record/ qualifications beyond what the academic institutions that acredit them require. Are we going to start digging up everyone's theses now, and have people with no relevant experience in that field analyse them? So dumb.

The attempted 'due diligence' research by on is more public breakdown than successful gotcha. Participant observation has an inevitable relationship with intervention: it's impossible to disentangle the two.

I see I have provoked the wrath of the Jeremy Duns acolytes, who are now clogging up my mentions. Sad! 😂

They're utterly paralysed by their inferiority complexes, and (to give them the benefit of the doubt) their subconscious racism. They can't accept that a working-class brown guy grafted and got a PhD. It's incomprehensible for them. That's all this is about.

This very sorry episode has shown-up a lot of these middle-class centrists (again). They're obsessives and conspiratorial cranks, who can't seem to understand that the world they thought was theirs to mould has slipped through their fingers, and into the hands of a new movement.

Jeremy Duns takes issue with being called a creep and a cyber-stalker. He thinks he's a gifted contrarian, providing useful critical analysis and scrutiny. Not so. Such descriptions of his behaviour "won't work", though, apparently. But I think most people see what he's about.

Not just apparent racial motivations either, it would appear. Jeremy Duns also attacked Dr Brooke Magnanti, and attempted to reach out to her former escort clients! Nothing like a bit of misogyny to complete the whole look.

Curious that Duns once had Mehdi Hasan in his (toy gun's) crosshairs in a failed attempt to smear him as an extremist. His consistently deranged actions show he apparently doesn't like brown people much, particularly ones he disagrees with politically.

I think we need some "due diligence" on Jeremy Duns. The guy has an English BA, and spends his life as a pound shop Ian Fleming. Yet, we're to believe he has the credentials to re-mark a PhD, that passed with no corrections after being scrutinised through a rigorous viva? 🤔

To be clear: Jeremy Duns is alleging that Aaron Bastani duped − yes, duped − a prestigious university into *erroneously awarding him a DOCTORATE*. Surely, if you're not an utterly spiteful agenda-pursuing hack, you can see that for the ludicrous, conspiratorial smear it is?
