right now YouTube is taking away the verification badge from dozens if not hundreds of YouTube creators, some of which have millions of subscribers and have been making videos on YouTube for over 10 years pretty shitty for YouTube to do to the community

Please appeal so we can take a look! We know there's a lot to unpack w/ this change, but basically we're trying to fix the fact that our old system didn’t "verify” much except that a channel had 100k subs – we now want verification to ensure channel authenticity for viewers.

A lot of people are gonna be mad... But if we're looking at this realistically only a small number of real, deserving verified YouTubers are having it taken away and can probably fix it by appealing. This new system makes it more meaningful if anything.

That being said... It's not like a verification badge changes much. YouTube acknowledges you? I guess that's cool. Not like peoples lives are being ruined by not being verified and not like they're getting undeserved treatment if they are verified. Idk what to think tbh.

the biggest problem are scammers and imposters , a few months ago it was rampant on PewDiePie's channel, they changed their name and picture to pewdiepie's and were spamming scam links in the comments. the only way to be sure it was pewds was the badge.

Oh well yeah for sure, that's what the new system is intended to fix
