Where the hell did you hear this

Bro my sister has every single book.
-
This doesn't mean they're banned nation-wide. This means more institutions have banned it than perhaps any other country. Given the deeply-religious-South's feelings on witchcraft, it wouldn't be a stretch to imagine. That said, I wouldn't mind a source.
-
Our church we went to would not allow the books to be read, or the kids couldn't dress up as HP characters for Halloween. I was like Whaaaat? Didn't go there long. Lol I am in Indiana
-
Im Christian and read Harry Potter. It’s just a book.
-
Yes, just like the Bible.
-
The Bible is Gods word dude, not cool. Please show a little more respect..

What’s the source of this information?
-
http://ALA.org would be the original source that has been used for numerous articles published ever since book 1 and has grown with each new book.
-
In the ALA lists of most challenged books by decade, the latest complete decade is 2000-2009. It says: "Top 100 Banned/Challenged Books: 2000-2009: 1. Harry Potter (series), by J.K. Rowling..."http://www.ala.org/advocacy/bbooks/top-100-bannedchallenged-books-2000-2009 …
-
That looks like a fairly good "what to read"-list to me. Lots of classics there. Would be nice to see the source for the banning info and who banned them.
-
If you would take the time to visit the ALA website, you’ll see they explain this information.

-
I visited it and spent a moment (whoa!) trying to find it. "...lists are based on information from media stories and voluntary challenge reports sent to OIF from communities across the United States." was the most I found. If you found more, please link!

It’s because of the frigen Bible Belt. I remember when the first 1 came out and they were all like devil this devil that. They even had a petition at my dads church and he was for it till he watched it then complete 180 he loves the movies!
-
Yep! Same experience here sadly!
-
It’s the same as when The Golden Compass came out in movie form.
-
What the hell...
-
Yep people are so scared that something will corrupt people’s minds smh
-
That ALA banned/challenged books list from 2000-2009 basically outlines who banned them if you know what the books are about. Books by black authors and poets, books about blacks on trial who are viewed favorably, books about magic and fantasy... it's Southern Christianity, baby.
