There are many attractive Soviet era mosaics in Karakalpakstan, but the best collection of them is in the capital, Nukus. This image is just one section of a huge mosaic covering most of the building at Karakalpakstan 23.
Uzbekistan is known for its nons, flatbreads cooked in blazing hot tandoors that have a distinct signature stamp in the middle. I travelled to four cities and sampled four different types:
1. Margilan
2. Samarkand
3. Bukhara
4. Tashkent
My favourite was Margilan’s non!
