    Public education decentralization schemes like SCF/SBB are meant to dismantle the monitoring & compliance structures responsible for the oversight of public $$$. Privatizers are not shy about the intention.

    The Monroe students are so amazing! Their meeting is energy and focus gives me so much hope. Congrats to the Monroe staff for helping cultivate such a wonderful learning environment for our students.

    Friendly reminder that millionaire DeVos, aka the worst Secretary of education in the history of ever, was appointed by Trump, hates public schools, and undermined students civil rights. So why is LAUSD trying to adopt her funding scheme?

    This is a Betsy DeVos program LAUSD is part of. In 2020 they won a grant to pursue SCF from DeVos' dept. of ed. Critics say SCF slowly chokes schools with low or plummeting enrollment. Academics say SCF is a kind of fundamental infrastructure in school choice (pro-charter) system

    In Denver, same story. Rob Gould, President of Denver Classroom Teachers' Association told me they've had schools without nurses in a pandemic. That experienced teachers have jumped ship because they afford the cost of living with slashed salaries. That teacher turnover was 20%

    New story: LAUSD wants to switch to Student Centered Funding, in which schools get funded BY their students, not for them. Each student has a price. Schools must compete for students to get their funding. Anti-charter ppl **very** worried. 🧵
