Most crucially is the removal of coverage for testing and treatment. The explicit aim of ending this policy is to obfuscate case numbers, discourage treatment, and push awareness of the ongoing pandemic further into the margins. Many more will die.

This is more than just keeping up appearances. The scant few material measures still left in place after 3 years of eugenics and propaganda are being ripped away, placing the sole economic and social burden of self-preservation squarely on the shoulders of the individual.

The official end of the public health emergency is the culmination of the U.S. government's attempt to acclimate us to mass death. Even as thousands die every week, with many more newly-ravaged by long COVID, the state has declared "You're on your own."

No matter what lip service is paid to the victims of this repression, the actions of the state give a clear message: all resistance will be met with violence. They hope that with enough terror, they can pacify those they subject to the most brutal oppression.

The striking nurses were met with adulation by the broader working class community. Throughout the brief strike, they were supported on the picket line by other union workers and community members.
Their victory is a lesson to all of us: the bosses need us. We don't need them.

After a mere two days on strike, nurses in New York City extracted massive concessions from their bosses. A nearly 20% increase in pay was achieved overnight, and more importantly, they ensured the end of critical staffing shortages.
