Flanagan says academic schedule at USM is not student-friendly or student-centric, may be causing retention problem.
President David Flangan says he knows elimination process is 'heart wrenching,' but notes that they only cover 5% of USM's structural gap.

Collins said state funding for UMaine system has dropped to a low of 41%. Says high was roughly 72%, didn't mention when.
Collins says the board listens, is respectful of all opinions, but are charged with making the tough decisions, looking out for system.
Collins says the system has cut down on administrative side and it's time to cut from academic side, that system needs to 'grow its sales.'
Trustee Collins says he has also received many emails regarding USM program eliminations. Says all trustees have been sent copies to read.
