That right most flow has gone quite far along the sea bed hasn't it? All that laze coming up from underwater, crazy stuff. Would the flow transform from Pahoehoe / A'a to Pillow form when submerged?

We do think the flow has traveled underwater. The laze is mainly from the actual ocean entry, not the submarine portion of the flow. And yes, after the initial ocean entry we would expect underwater flow advance to be from pillow lava.

Dangerous for that boat to be close to the upwelling?

Stayed on Kapoho Bay in 2013. Can't believe it's all gone. Surreal. Thinking about the people affected.

What was happening behind that boat in the water?
-
That is an upwelling of hot water from undersea lava flow activity.
