Keep products with small batteries, including TV remotes, away from kids, and make sure the battery compartments on children’s toys are secure. Button batteries should be kept in their original packaging, locked up away from children. Throw out or recycle old button batteries.

We could pass a law requiring a protective coating but that might make things cost a cent or two more so we accept child death and blame the parents for not putting the remote up
