Help, I'm an idiot: which is safer?
1. You are smart and great. 2. The wall socket. Always the wall socket. Power strips can't handle space heaters and basically meltdown.

While we're on it - is there guidance for this around aquariums? I have a 10 gallon tank and some of my stuff is plugged into a power strip

Anything that creates heat from resistance can draw too much power from power strips. Also, don't daisy chain power strips and never plug one UPS into another. That last one probably doesn't apply :)

Is this true even if the power strip is rated for say 1500w and it's a 1500w space heater?
