Why the original bottle? Is it so there's an ingredients list/hazard warning available, or is it because of the bottle material interacting with the cleaning product?

First one. Original bottles have the appropriate labels and also may be childproof. What happens is, people move a cleaner from the original bottle to a generic bottle and then forget what the cleaner is/that it's poisonous or the generic bottle isn't child proof.
