You have no idea how much it pisses me off that my tax dollars fund this kind of ridiculous warning. If someone can't figure out how to cut an avocado without needing to go to the ER, they have much bigger problems.

I am *so* relieved that the Consumer Product Safety administration is taking seriously the life-threatening dangers of improper avocado cutting.

I always assumed the best way to remove the pit was to strike it with your knife, so it gets stuck in the pit, and then twist. If place the avocado on a cutting board, there's basically no way for a body part to get under the knife and it's quite simple after that.
