If you tweet sarcasm at us, but make a typo, so you delete the original tweet and follow up with a second tweet that has perfect grammar, just know we deeply respect that effort. Also, check your smoke alarm batteries.
We know this sounds simple, but when people get desperate they stop thinking clearly. They take risks that can have deadly consequences. If you know someone who is thinking about bringing a container not meant for fuel to get gas, please let them know it's dangerous.
If you're frying your turkey this year, make sure it is thawed. Follow the manufacturer instructions for using your fryer. Only fry a turkey outside and away from your home. Never use turkey fryers in the garage or on the porch, Turkey America!

Sometimes when we put out a safety message like this people use it as a way to look down on others. We ask that instead you use this as an opportunity to reflect on safety in your own life.
Carefully inspect your chainsaw or other power tools before use, and do not use if damaged -- worn wiring, motors, or other electrical parts can pose a shock or fire hazard.

Plug corded power tools into a ground fault circuit protected receptacle or a portable GFCI and avoid using corded power tools in wet or damp conditions. Never carry power tools by the cord and protect cords from damage.
In 2019, we found out some of our oldest PSAs, many unseen for decades, would not be saved permanently in the National Archives. We had a choice - save them or send them to a lonely landfill somewhere.

In addition, wear the appropriate eye protection (safety goggles, glasses, and face shields) to protect your eyes from flying debris. Always keep hands away from moving parts. Extreme caution is required when operating a chainsaw.

We know it's easy to gawk at the lack of safety in someone else's life. Skip that part. Reflect on the amount of safety in your own instead.
