There has been misinformation that Afghan parolees who have applied for SIV should not apply for asylum as it may jeopardize their SIV application. This is not true. An asylum application can be filed while an individual is also pursuing SIV classification or other status.

As we gear up for #CitizenshipDay, we welcomed 15 #NewUSCitizens in Kansas City. Originally from 6 countries, they came together to take the oath at this place dedicated to freedom and patriotism. Director Kemper was among the first to congratulate them.

Through August 31, 2022, USCIS and used 263,510 employment-based immigrant visas (preliminary data). We are committed to taking every viable policy and procedural action to maximize the use of all available visas and are well-positioned to do so.

On #LiteracyDay, we remember the who built reading rooms at for Vietnamese refugees temporarily housed there after the fall of Saigon. Reading rooms were included in temp refugee housing starting in 1956 with the Hungarian refugee resettlement program.
