Today, President Trump signed into law the “Temporary Reauthorization and Study of the Emergency Scheduling of Fentanyl Analogues Act,” classifying certain fentanyl-substances as a Schedule I drug subject to the strictest controls.

The President’s signing of the anti-fentanyl bill now guarantees our law enforcement officers will have the tools they need to go after drug traffickers who are poisoning our streets!

We must ask ourselves how we can all join together to bridge the respect deficit for law enforcement that is directly and indirectly leading to violence against our brave men and women of the badge.

The man accused of killing a Kimberly officer has been arrested on 20 charges in 20 years, and convicted of more than 6 felonies. Most recently, he was released on his own recognizance. Authorities are now trying to get his bond revoked.

Out of respect for the family at this difficult time, the officer’s name will not be released until they are ready. Let us all give them time to reconcile this tragedy by showing our respectful patience.

Alabama has lost another brave officer whose end of watch came too soon while protecting and serving his community. We all mourn during this tragic time for this officer, his family, and the Kimberly PD. The violence against law enforcement is maddening.

A Kimberly PD police officer was shot tonight during a chase on Interstate 65. Let us all pause to pray for the health/life of this brave member of law enforcement. Suspect(s) still at large, so let’s also pray we find the triggerpuller.

This Deputy was shot responding to a call for help! He was shot over eight months ago but has now succumbed to those injuries. Richard Whitten’s end of watch came much too soon. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, his friends, and the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office.

Good to see these officers and deputies being recognized for their heroic actions and also a citizen who didn't look the other way and chose to help.

ICYMI: I encourage all law enforcement agencies to consider this training! It translates very well into crime scene and other forensic investigations as well. We can never be too good at this business! ⬇️

February is Black History Month! It is important we remember those who have brought all of us closer together. Tuskegee Airman Charles McGee participated in Super Bowl LIV. It’s no coin toss how proud Alabama is of all of the Tuskegee Airmen! ⬇️
