  1. Deeply saddened by Madeleine Albright's passing. She had a great influence on the careers of a whole generation of diplomats, including my own. I was deputized to speak on 's behalf, but her own words about freedom, democracy & diplomacy will remain timeless.

    I met with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg today to address Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified invasion of Ukraine. We discussed the unity and strength of the alliance, NATO’s ongoing efforts to deter and defend against any aggression, and our support for Ukraine.

  17. The U.S. has provided nearly $293 million in humanitarian assistance for the people of Ukraine since February 24th. This enables humanitarian organizations to support those affected by Russia's brutal attack as well as the countries generously hosting refugees from Ukraine.

    This war has turned nearly 3 million Ukrainians into refugees. That’s on top of more than 12 million people who require humanitarian assistance inside Ukraine. The United States is helping to lead a global humanitarian response with our partners in Europe and beyond.
