I was in the car recently (with someone you know) … and we were on the freeway … and they were going 80 and texting …. I about shit my pants …. I didn't say anything …. but TBH I was scared.

Wowza. Can't wait to hear this story. About 40,000 people die on U.S. roads each year. And most "accidents" aren't accidents. Cell phone use while driving leads to 1.6 million crashes each year. We pose a much bigger threat to each other than the terrorists do.

Hypocritical? I don’t know about anyone else but if I’m paying for someone to drive me somewhere, I’d like for them to fully pay attention to the road. It’s their job, so do it right. Cmon USA Today.

What IS hypocritical is being told that paying for a service and not getting full attention/respect is acceptable.

It's the new philosophy in America. If you and yours do it; throw the book at 'em. If me and mine do it; there's obviously a good reason, so what's the problem?

For sure. Nobody is going to get out of a moving vehicle. That’s just not safe.

I mean you’re probably not driving with anyone in the car and don’t risk others lifes. So not really hypocritical

And what of the lives outside your vehicle? Do they count?
