And? Congratulations to your daughter and for your being able to send her there without grants. The article doesn’t say anyone is looking for a “free ride.” The fact that you assumed that about the boys and their mother in this situation says a lot about you.

Also: what the hell is there to “agree” about here? It happened, it was bullshit, the school needs to do better. In 2018 — EVER, really, but now there’s no excuse that’s remotely valid — this should NOT have happened. And who calls the police during a goddamn campus tour?
-
This “free ride” bullshit is getting out of hand. Your financial privilege doesn’t mean everybody else is somehow... let’s see. Are you a “bum” kind of asshole, or a “lazy” kind? Your repetition and grammar incline me toward the latter: you think anyone getting help is “lazy”.—
-
—because what? You worked your fingers to the bone uphill both ways barefoot in a snowstorm wearing only a barrel, right? The fact that you accuse these young men of wanting something for “free” is making me more and more enraged the more I read it. It mentions money EXACTLY ONE—
-
—time: describing how these boys saved up their own money to have this opportunity. THEY put money aside. Not their parents, not fucking Santa Claus. What goddamn part of that screams “handout” to you? Also FYI: if your grades are good enough to get into school on a grant—
-
—based on merit, honey, that ain’t a free ANYTHING. That’s a LOT more work than a lot of judgemental little crabs your age even know how to put in. So no matter WHAT happens, I’d say these young men deserve anything and everything this school can do to make up for this crap.

So it seems to me after watching the footage that the mom called not because she saw 2 Native American kids and it made her uncomfortable, but because 2 young adult males joined the group unexpectedly without a parent and avoided answering questions. Not everything is about race.
-
Really nothing about race? Ok.... you keep thinking that.
-
“two adult males joined the group without a parent” yeah because they’re adults lolol
-
"2 young adult males" if youre gonna quote me quote me correctly pls
-
Weren't all the kids young adults...or only white kids stay children forever?

this comes from the same campus that has these other bias/hate-motivated incidents so i’m honestly not surprised!pic.twitter.com/BWAwcQ9Qu0

We’re calling on
@ColoradoStateU to remove the Native students names from CSU Police database (they filed an official police report) & blur faces more on body-cam footage. One of the students is still a minor.#ColoradoStateUFAILThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

White people have been making Native Americans nervous since 1492.

Did the woman attempt to engage with the students? Likely not. Too many people are afraid of those who don’t look and act like themselves. The woman should be ashamed.

As a professor of 15 years at
@ColoradoStateU I can tell you this is#NotMyCSU. I don’t know a single person at Colorado State University who thinks this was remotely acceptable. The behavior of the “concerned” mother was a disgrace. - 1 more reply
