As a former flight attendant, I know our aircraft were required to have AEDs and we were trained to use them, and we checked that they were operational on a regular basis. Can't speak to this airline or this incident. Don't know all the facts. But just providing some context.

Also, there's no guarantee that an AED will revive someone in cardiac arrest. Assuming it worked perfectly, there's still a chance you'll die. I don't know how close they were to DFW. If they were closeby, that would be the best place to land given the facilities & medical staff.
