Abandoning cars says more about Ford’s own woes than it does about the market for cars. By all accounts, the car market will bottom out at 20% market share. That’s still roughly 15 million cars. Ford’s issue is they need to design a car people actually want to drive.

Say that the market for SUVs and trucks peaked at only 20% market share, would it make sense for Ford, or any other manufacturer, to abandon SUVs and trucks? No. So why abandon the 15 million units car market?

I loved the 2003 Ford Taurus that I had. I would still have it except for it got caught in a flood where I live.

Ford needs a body designer... Ford has no style... doesn't catch the eye... even though the vehicles are as dependable as any other.
