That's not exactly true! His guns were taken away, his father gave them back. He should also be held responsible!?

@NRA don't care about the red flags or the lives lost as long as his 2nd amendment rights aren't a fringed upon. He's father should be held accountable as well. He's complicit and knew his son wasn't stable.

You’re so very right. His white privilege is what got his guns taken away. And his white privilege is what allowed him to shoot up the Waffle House. I’m glad someone here speaks the truth.

Right. They took the guns away and, since he was mentally unstable gave the guns to his father, who was basically serving as his guardian. The father shouldn’t have given them back. In most situations white people get all of their guns taken away too. This one was different.

I never said you weren’t treated different. I’m aware that there are situations in which you will be treated different and that’s the sad truth. We’re not talking about tho, hun. We’re talking about this specific situation

This is partly true due to the fact that seeking help for mental illness has a stigma discouraging many mentally ill people to never seek the care they need. Only their immediate contacts know the level of their sickness, & many of them stay silent

Agree. We look at mental illness as something far worse than we do the results of the illness itself. We are being told to just let mentally ill people be who they want to be and act how they want to act instead of questioning why they are behaving this way.

Many won’t be happy until there are no guns. The guns were confiscated, but due to terrible parenting, he got them back. His father should be held accountable.

Clearly giving them to his father was an idiot idea.
