Well let's see it. Only seeing half the story which is her side. So show what preceded incident.

I don't want to make light of this serious situation but the daughters name is Chikesia and her mothers name is Chiquitta. And I wonder why I stopped reading USA Today
-
What does their names have to do with anything. Is it more socially acceptable if it were Sarah and Becky, Keisha and Tomia, Mamie and Elizabeth?
-
Chip on her shoulder?!? Coded bs for ‘she’s black with an attitude’ and that is cause for arrest. Two minutes before they pulled her to the ground and exposed her, she was sitting in a chair- talking. This is so much BS.

People need to act right while in public.
-
You're correct. How was she acting wrong in public?
-
A witness said she threatened to climb over the counter and assault the employees, to return with a gun and shoot the place up. Also said she was drunk.

They were speaking to her in a chair before they pulled her to the ground. At what point would that have been deesclation enough to just get her to leave the store? It is not disorderly to ask for the corporate number to lodge a complaint. Smh this was not warranted. Period.
-
Witness said she had threatened to get a gun and shoot the place up. Also that she was drunk. The sloppy and abusive attempt to cuff her was definitely outrageous, but arresting her because of her threats did seem warranted.
-
I want to see the tapes; she was already sitting next to the cop before they brutalized her. I went to a PWI college; seen my share of SLOPPY drunk & disorlies brushed off & sent on their way....
-
Yes, we need to see & hear the entire exchange with employees before we can judge the need for arrest. There was definitely no call to manhandle her like that.

Well... there are no Waffle Houses in California but should I find myself in the vicinity of one in another state I’ll pass.

Well
@WaffleHouse I saw the video where the women were talking to their waitress with no sound so you couldn't hear what the waitress or the women said but there didn't appear to be a safety issue, just the woman saying they were unhappy and it's believable that's over a charge -
With no sound, we can't be sure what was going on. Witness reported she made explicit threats to the employees. We need that audio before we can judge.https://twitter.com/bculpe/status/988589755817512961?s=19 …

Does anyone have a link to the video? Haven’t seen it. On the flip side, everyone should take note from the two guys from starbucks. Right or wrong, the guys got up quietly and did what the cops said avoiding further action. Is the best way at the moment.
-
The fact that anyone thinks that the best case scenario is that a person of colour has to calmly stay in police custody for hours simply because they don’t want to be assaulted is gut-wrenching. If this was a white middle aged soccer mom, they would have never laid hands on her.
-
I wasn’t talking about color. I was talking about ppl in general. I used that case as an example since it’s pretty popular at the moment. But in no shape or form did I bring race or color in my comments. Again, people in general.
-
You don’t have to “bring up race” when the issue itself is racial.
-
It is racial if you make it racial. I just made a comment and used the incident as an example that they handled (the two men) it correctly and by them doing that it didn’t escalate to something worst. So I don’t see anything racial about that.
-
1. It wasn’t an incident. Authorities were purposely called (in your example) in response to racial prejudice, making the situation racial. 2. Complying with authorities, for a black person, doesn’t necessarily guarantee safety, i.e. Sandra Bland
-
No my friend they were called because they were loitering or just hanging out without consuming. Not saying it was right but that’s what it was. Now, I saw the full video and their comments. Clearly it was a black cop there and other black ppl there and they didn’t bother him
