I agree. It’s a book of fantasies written by who knows who or when. That thing has more interpretations than I’ve ever seen. Lots of evilness/wars fought over its teachings. Read it. It’s a total joke and waste of time. Just follow the 10 commandments and you’ll be good to go.

This “list” also contains some of the greatest literary works of all time by some of the greatest writers of all time. Sounds like some editors at GQ were also poor students and readers. Pretty cowardly not to pen their names to their reviews. “The editors of GQ?” Pretty weak.
-
just so you know, each of the reviews has the name of the writer after it. The Bible one was written by Jesse Ball.

Still want a comprehensive text detailing the creation of all things and the early stirrings of the world? I’m pretty sure The Silmarillion is on sale online somewhere. Wayyy cooler story, if you ask me.

Most Atheists, including former clergy (Eg. Dan Barker) became so by reading the Bible in its entirety. If you do, you’ll find it to be the worst. God killing 20 million humans, death for disobeying child, Gays, and women for minor sexual infractions. Please read the Bible.
-
Not millions. God has either killed Billions upon Billions or men have done so in the name of God.
-
You are probably right. I got my information from a book called “Drunk with Blood”, that lists God’s killings.

Who cares about the "wrath of Christians"? They get their panties in a bunch when a store clerk tells them "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas." An entire religion of crisis actors.
-
You mean “Knickers in a Twist”, as they say in the UK. LOL. Good one.

Read the Bible in its entirety. If you don’t have time Google for ‘Bible’ and keywords ‘misogyny’, ‘infanticide’, ‘abortion’, ‘genocide’, etc. Another source http://skepticsannotatedbible.com . Please read the Bible.

Reading the Bible was an integral part of my path to atheism

Me too.

While I consider the Bible my ultimate source for wisdom, salvation, truth, comfort and life direction, I think I’m in a very small minority of people who actually read, study and apply it. GQ is simply stating what a majority of “Christians” already show by their actions.
-
I prefer lord of the rings for my wisdom
