"This could have been avoided if these two men had bought something or just left when asked to because they weren’t patrons. How difficult is this?" one reader said.https://usat.ly/2H87Lm5

Didn't we have an entire TV show about people hanging out at a coffee shop and not buying stuff? Oh yeah, it was called Friends. People choose places to meet friends. Sometimes they buy, sometimes not. Don't throw out anyone unless you throw out everyone who isn't buying.

How many white people sit in Starbucks and don't buy anything every day? Likely thousands and no one has been arrested for it.

People go in there all the time and use the WiFi without buying something. Is @Starbucks gonna implement a hall monitoring rule now? This was 100% based on race.

They can implement whatever rule they want. It was 100% based on these two gentlemen loitering inside a business and refusing to leave. I don't see the outrage.

Tried to use a restroom, told it’s for paying customers only, went and sat down to wait for a friend to show up, but asked to leave because they were “trespassing”. How do you trespass during business hours when other people are in there?

Not often, but often enough - I have used their bathroom without a purchase ... never has anyone said one word! Shame on the MGmt at that store. And I would bet $$$ that if it were a white person, 911 employee wouldn't have even sent the police out.

The point is that similarly situated Caucasian customers were not asked to leave. How difficult is this to understand?

Have you never arranged to meet a friend for a meal or coffee, they are running late and you hold off ordering bc you are waiting on them?

They. were. patrons. They were waiting on their friend to join them. Others in the Starbucks had not yet bought anything, yet the cops only arrested the black men. That’s why. Why is this so hard for ‘one reader’ to understand?

Often I have met someone at Starbuck (Their Choice) & I don't want anything. Other times, I have had my meeting and order upon leaving. But white people can't fault non-white people for standing up for their rights. We don't go in the back door anymore. We can stand our ground.

people sit in Starbucks all day, doing all kinds of non Starbucks activity. Apply the rules across the board, not discriminatory. Ps, fire the Manager

I agree, they should of left when asked to leave several times. I feel they were trying to creat a scene. They where asked by employee and the police department to leave and they did not they should of been arrested. Anyone would of been no matter the race.
