Why didn't police ask the men why they were there and just asked them to leave? But why did the barista ask them to leave three times? A lot of people just hang out on their laptops or with friends. There was no need for an arrest.

If you had read the story they were ask 3 times and refused. The store called 911.
-
The question is why were they asked to leave when they actually had a valid reason to be there. If you are meeting up with someone at Starbucks and waiting for them to arrive, how is that loitering?
-
I think the question is why can’t they ask anyone to leave. If someone comes to my house and I don’t want them there they are leaving.
-
Really? I open a business to sell product to the public but I wont serve ANY dude named William Brown because they are all generally known to think narrowly. In addition, facial hair makes me nervous. So I call 911!?
-
I’m sure there are more business so I will just go somewhere else. No problem.
-
Context is everything. Don’t be obtuse. Cops & white citizens alike treat black Americans differently & THAT is why you can’t insert yourself in this scenario.
-
Not all. But thinking like that and there will never be equality.

Since when does anyone at Starbucks ask to use the restroom? If a person has to go, then he or she just goes. This story makes no sense!
-
Yes...In high tourist areas... like next to a stadium

I wonder what would happen if every African American who read this story and was offended, and outraged refused to give their business to Starbucks? Sometimes the only way to get your voice heard is by using the power of your dollar.

I'm not buying it. I bet the 2 guys asked why they had to leave and the cops considered that failing to comply
-
Yup they did ask the officers why they were being told to leave. Several witnessed who were inside heard them and also told the cops the two guys did nothing wrong.
-
I've seen this same scenario so many times. Luckily, they are alive

Getting arrested for sitting in SB. Shameful. What egos.

I've sat inside a SB several times and bought nothing. I never had an employee waste time calling the police. It was personal. Period.
