This is madness. I do not want to be on the road with one of these things. I am a safe driver and have insurance. What protections are in place if one of these hits me? Ridiculous.

100% is not too much to ask if your asking to put lives in the care of technology.

Probably safer than human drivers. What’s their crash rate in comparison?
-
Give a decent hacker a second
-
Well they can hack our car systems now. Let’s just hope it’s the good guys who discover the vulnerability
-
Lol yeah let's hope so, last thing we need is a rig being remotely controlled by some nut job

Who expects them to be safe? I don't even expect them to be around in 5 - 7 years.
-
You're in for a HUGE surprise.
-
Whats that? That it will be less than 2 years?
-
No, they'll be around in 5-7 years. Waymo is introducing 20,000 cars to the market (as a taxi service) in 2 years.
-
Electirc cars were supposed to be commonplace in 5 years for about the past 25 years in this country. I'll wait and see about autonomus cars. I just don't see it. I mean who actually wants one?
-
Electric cars is not the same as autonomous cars. It all comes down to safety in the end, but seeing how technology advances these days it's hard to imagine a future without them. Every car company is pushing them too.
-
They tried to build electric cars for safety purposes in 1910. Never materialized
