Myself. I did it all on my own as a single parent, and my son graduated debt free.

529 plan is the way to go.
-
Disagree. Too restrictive. Roth gives more tax freedoms.
-
Doesn’t the 529 grow tax free?
-
It does, however, if all funds are not used for educational purposes, the remainder will be taxable. It will be treated as a normal annuity. This is not true for a Roth. The principal in a Roth is always accessible also.

I’m seeing red flags going up... I’d ask a smart vester pro first... Sounds like a good way to get audited...

None of the above. How about parents who worked so hard to build lives, but yet they still couldn’t afford college for them because of the cost...

Assuming my advisor owes a fiduciary duty and isn’t trying to sell me on a loan from a company paying him kickbacks....I trust my advisor more than school (which has vested interest) and family and friends (prob don’t know better than I do).

Went to college in Germany. Absolutely loved it. I paid 80€ per semester - 40 of that went to our student union - the other 40 went towards the public transportation ticket for that semester. No frats here, no excessive partying (since drinking is 16), no sports - just education
-
Try going to Germany now Very different unless wealthy
-
Im still here - and no the above still applies
-
Yeah I heard they paid full ride if the student speaks German. Learned about it too late although son did consider a graduate program
