If minorities are being killed disproportionately, the federal government has a duty to help hold those responsible to account and to end this scourge. https://usat.ly/2J4ALs7  (via @usatodayopinion)

Opposing view: Stephon Clark's shooting was legally justified under the law, within police policy and in accordance with training says Timothy Davis, president of the Sacramento Police Officers’ Association.https://usat.ly/2J2QrfD

But their "perceived threat" comes from a place of fear of POC. Stephon Clark died bc he was a black man. Any other figure in that back yard would not have been shot at 20 times. I want our police to be more afraid of taking an innocent life than they are of losing their own.

To many officers, a man just being black is already a threat regardless of the situation, which is why so many of them die. Police are afraid of them, and don't see their lives as valuable enough to take more caution to not overreact on their implicit bias & murder innocent POC.

"Well, maybe Stephon Clark shouldn't have been ________ and he wouldn't have been killed." If you can't fill in the blank with anything other than "black" then it was clearly MURDER. Obviously unjustified, and merits a legal remedy for his murderers. This HAS to stop!

Feeling threatened is a pass for cops. Perhaps they should go to work in, I don't know, maybe a daycare center.
