You think a cop has a duty to retreat?

-
How about just not shooting you 20 times for holding a cell phone?

-
That's not what stand your ground is about. It's about whether a person has a duty to retreat or not
-
They chased him. Didn't identify themselves. Shot him 20 times and he only had a phone. This is NOT stand your ground.
-
If you can prove those facts, ad the cop had no reasonable fear of death or great bodily harm, ten he won't prevail. Btw, article said he had a legal gun.
-
And this article has the cop saying he identified himself & jones poited his gun at him. Even the prosecutors seem to admit the gun was out, but argue he should have stopped shooting https://www.google.com/amp/www.sun-sentinel.com/local/palm-beach/fl-pn-raja-police-stand-your-ground-20180124-story,amp.html … What makes you so sure of the facts you alleged?
-
You do know the whole thing was recorded right
cop gave false statement in the beginning -

Don't break the law
-
Who broke the law?
-
The neighbor who reported the crime watched him and saw him go into the backyard. He was on the phone with police while this happened and while they approached him. But that doesn’t mean someone should be shot because they are a suspect by no means.

The Supreme Court has continually ruled law enforcement make split second decisions many times based on inaccurate information and are not afforded the resources to make a decision with all the history, nothing to do with stand your ground
