Obama campaign officials say they did not collect information without users' consent or in violation of the rules Facebook had in place at the time.https://usat.ly/2pt5So3

"'[H]ad Cambridge Analytica just put out the app themselves, they would have been playing by the rules,' Ruffini said." - Um, yeah, that's why the comparison doesn't hold. CambAnal tricked FB users into revealing data that they didn't know was going to a political outfit.

Lol same as everyone else who uses this firm. The story isn't about Trump campaign ( as much as media wants to make it that way ) The story is about Fakebook

Well, no, it's about both. Facebook has its own privacy problem. The problem is susceptibility to trickery like what Cambridge Analytica and the Trump campaign did. If they had sent out FB messages asking for Trump supporters and then linked to their friends, that would compare.

The Trump Campaign hired them, as have many other campaigns. Saying Cambridge Analytica did something is one thing, but saying the Trump Campaign did something is quite another.

True, and that's what needs to be fleshed out in an investigation. There were a lot of big mouths around both camps so who knows who actually did what.

Consenting for a personality test is a lot different than consenting to a company for purposes of selling my data for political purpose.

This is one of the worst pieces of “journalism” I’ve ever read. It’s clear there is a concerted effort in the US media to obfuscate and downplay the #CambridgeAnalytica story.

When logging my email account, there was Trump's face flashing, asking for donations. I complained and they sent me a clean link to use.
