This is appalling. Men have no business making laws about women’s fundamental rights.

What we find appalling is how a women finds herself pregnant but has no problem murdering the innocent, defenseless child in her womb! Pro choice people do not understand our position and we realize that. I am responsible to speak up for the not yet born. Silence implies consent.

Perhaps fix problems like access to and affordable contraception, along with education other than abstinence-only. Mississippi is routinely ranked dead last as the state with the most people living below poverty and the lowest median income.

The population also has the highest amount of citizens on food stamps. And the 3rd highest imprisonment rate. Restrictions like this will surely lead to unsafe abortions. Get to fixing your education, health and social services Mississippi...

Health departments throughout the state provide free or little cost birth control.

Like many states this is true, to an extent. MS has many age restrictions (age of majority is a high 21) & poorer sex education requirements. For instance, they legally cannot teach instructions on application or use of condoms in school.

21 states allow minors access to BC without parental consent or other restrictive circumstances- MS is not one of them, as the minor has to already be a parent or be married or have specialist’s referral. MS has had the most teen pregnancies for some years running...

That’s not going to change due to abortions restrictions. I’m from MS & my kids were raised there. The county we resided in had a ridiculously high amount of teen pregnancies. More often than not parents aren’t interested in parenting.

Parenting is but one side to a multi-pronged problem. The income levels are so low it’s most likely parents are away from their children more often w/work. And absolutely agree- abortion restrictions will not change any of this. This will lead to increases in unsafe abortions.

It’s not an income issue, it’s a let the school/society raise your child issue. I’m a single mom who managed to raise 3 contributing members of society in-spite of income restrictions at the time they were growing up. I made it a point to stay involved & put in the effort.
