Mental health care in our country is abysmal - especially in poorer urban & rural environments.

What about massive reductions in traditional families with father's included.? The population can manage with some percentage of single parent homes but the share of such has gone way high with teen home and maturing issues not addressed.

Is it any wonder that the same year the smart phone came out, suicidal thoughts and actions for kids ages 5 - 17 more than doubled? With teens spending an average of 6.5 hours per day of screen time via Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram.....that has to be a big part of the problempic.twitter.com/Dp0QWfnWjz

So sad....whenever anyone is suffering from mental illness or substance abuse, it can take weeks or months to get help, and then with all of the effort they have to go through to get it...it's no surprise suicide rates are up.

The
#mentalillness crisis we’re seeing is just the beginning. I’ve researched this topic extensively and the majority of Americans have no idea what we’re in for. It’s linked to something you would never guess. -
lack of face to face connection. meaningful relationships. where has that gone? in front of computers? (as I write this at three in the morning on my iPad because I can’t sleep because of my depression)

-
Kirstie - follow the GAPS protocol diligently and it will help you cure your depression. There are lots of resources on the internet and YouTube about it. It has helped many! Best of all, no pills!
-
what’s GAPS? i HATE taking meds. i’ve been on them for 27 years and never thought they really helped
-
It’s what helped pull me out of my severe depression and anxiety. I function normally now without meds. https://youtu.be/u-TupRO7qjc this vid is a good place to start
-
but i’m sure you had some serious trauma that stemmed from your depression? i don’t think i’ll ever be cured. but thanks for the information. i have eating issues so not sure this would be helpful for me...
-
Just try it, especially if you have eating issues. Good luck .

Blame doctors for prescribing Ritalin and other anti- psychotic and anti-depression drugs to otherwise normal, active children. It says right in the goddamn ads that they may cause suicidal thoughts! DUH!!

from article: Mental illness also needs to be covered by insurance at the same level as physical illness, says psychiatrist Joe Parks, Missouri's former medical director for mental health services. this is SO important

I feel sorry for them and though I don't condone it, I can't honestly blame them with this mucked up reality.
