Former women’s coach. Started 5 black players against an all white team during a very racist time in society. Won the National Championship. UMBC’s win is simply one of the greatest upsets, but Texas Western changed the game of basketball forever. There’s no greater story.

Texas Western's win over Kentucky is in a class by itself - totally different context and time. And meaning. It hasn't been 'trumped".

Texas Western- while extremely historic and extremely significant- was a very good team that year, all year. They were 28-1.

And still from the very beginning of the tournament the Miners were given no shot at even getting to the Final Four, much less win.

Y’all need to do some research before you throw out some clickbait crap headline. TWU defeated insurmountable odds on and off the court, forever changing the landscape of NCAA basketball. Try again

Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Slow your roll
@USATODAY . You may want to pump the brakes before talking about TWC (UTEP) story. Give it about 50 years, and see if fans are still taking about this, making movies about it, and players/coaches are inspired by this.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Nah, the
#MiracleOnIce still trumps all. It was on a global stage. UMBC thrashing Virginia, while a remarkable story, isn't.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Except LSU was first double digit seed in 1986 to make FF, not VCU.

This is the second time in the history of NCAA basketball that this has happened. The first instance of this was when #16 Harvard beat #1 Stanford in the 1998 women’s tournament.
