A Martin Luther King Day exercise that touched on the subject of white privilege set off a firestorm in a predominantly white community.https://usat.ly/2IfRJ6l

This is the very definition of Irony. Predominantly White community is outraged by White Privilege discussion. Complained and had discussion restricted.

Hold up I need to absorb this!! A 90% white populated school.... named OCONOMOWOC. Located on land in MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN. In the wealthy county of WAUKESHA County. And they're inconvenienced? I can't even take them seriously

I'll bet it did. The privileged never want to talk about their privilege and if you do, then somehow that makes them a victim.

The students from that school put that assembly together themselves, overseen by the teachers. Soon after this happen the High school principal was forced to resign immediately. Just wrong!

The students want to continue learning more about rights including race, religion, LGBT, women, and disabled. The school board wants to shut it down and parents are fighting. This is also the same school board who was willing to move Indian bones to build a new elementary school.

Yes, I agree. But don’t hate me for it. I didn’t do it. I had family captured, tortured and killed in the concentration camp. I don’t blame others for it. I am however against the White Supremacist groups.

Part of white privilege is to control the subject matter of public discussion. The discussion must also be structured by them and not include for them any uncomfortable subject no matter how historically factual it maybe. Self delusion treated with opiates. Cognitive dissonance.

Starting a conversation regarding the importance of diversity awareness is great but I participated in one of these exercises found it extremely uncomfortable and embarrassing
