What is there to run your car into in North Dakota? I'm legitimately shocked.

Saw an article last week that ranked North Dakota #1 in Quality of Life (California #50). Yet, North Dakota ranks #1 here as the Drunkest State. I can only assume that a quality life correlates with drinking excessively and having a near 50% DUI death rate
-
C'mon, why would California rate 50 in quality of life? Sure are a lot of people who migrate here.

If laws were made to actually punish DUI’s/DWI’s and charge people appropriately when they kill someone driving drunk instead of what happens now-a fine that lawyers advertise nonstop to help you reduce, involuntary manslaughter pleaded down- it would reduce. Currently a joke

Or you get a second chance of making millions in the NFL (Leonard Little)

Sigh. I have skewed views on this so I probably am not the best person to be spouting off about it to be honest.

My 15 year old brother was in a accident with an underage drunk driver. He died. Driver walked away. Got three months in a juvenile center and then home (was 18, but turned 18 like two days after accident).
-
I'm so sorry for your loss. The guy should have been charged as an adult.
-
I doubt he would have served any time as an adult, even if charged as one. He probably would have pleaded down to probation because it is viewed as such a lower crime by courts from some awful reason. (Not in control of your decision making when drunk etc..)

Except for Hawaii being an outlier- cold, snowy winters seem to have a lot to do with excessive drinking.

Ifs its not surprising, why'd you waste your time writing the article? Whats next, "State with highest obesity rate, is the state with highest diabetes rate?" Hard Hitting news brought to you by the USA Today.

countries that seriously penalize those who hurt people in crashes have a lower rate of victims than those that penalize anyone who drinks

Well WI is run by republicans, and they don't care if people die. So people are able to drink and drive.
