Surely he could have tried something--children were being killed. Two men did put themselves in the line of fire to save the kids. I'm reminded of the bravery of the firemen who went into the World Trade Center on 9/11.

Sure, but not everyone can put their life on the line for strangers. People that can are amazing. You also will never know if you can until you are put in that situation. It’s easy to say someone should have done something but it’s harder to actually do it.
-
Then don't take a job as a cop. You think soldiers should do that too. Jesus.

Don't call a cop who hid during a school shooting a coward unless you've done better, law enforcement instructor who encourages cops to stand outside, wait until the firing is over, and then lose the suspect writes in a column. Fixed It!

It is true no one knows how we would react in battle on any given day. But we do have standards. Allowing children to be slaughtered is below our societal expectations.

So police are beyond criticism when they fail at their jobs?
-
No but don't know why he didn't go in. Need more facts.
-
Do we really tho? What facts would justify the inaction?
-
Everyone deserves to be heard. Weather or not his actions are justified will be determined when we hear his side. My heart goes out to all those gunned down.
-
What does the weather have to do with police incompetence

I can agree that we are all humans and we can get scared sometimes, but I guess he chose the wrong job then.

What would you call him? If he was supposed to go in and didn't, there was a reason. The reason is...he is a coward. What do you call the cops who shoot and kill black kids for no reason?

It is his job to run into harms way, he knew that when he took the job. He is a coward!
