emotional support animals are untrained pets. A service animal is specially trained and of a specific temperament. Change rules!!

For the record... No child was ever bitten by an emotional support peacock on any flight.

Pecked?

Because it wasn’t an emotional support dog.

I'm sure no one saw that coming. Whatever happened to security blankets? Those bite no one and don't bark or poop on planes.

The parents are at fault here. Not the dog, its owner or the child. My child has known not to approach unknown animals since she was 4. Also, she would have been closely supervised when boarding a plane at just 6 years old. That's not really the safest activity to begin with.
-
Also, these tabloid journalists are saying "attacked" and "bit" and so forth just to dramatize the event. That doesn't comport with the reported events.
-
I'm glad that you hover over your child to ensure they are never in any danger. On a side note, what about people who are allergic to dogs, not just ones who prefer not to be bitten by one?
-
We aren't talking about teenagers here. Watching a six year old closely in a non routine, crowded and potentially dangerous situation, is pretty standard non-neglugent parrbtinh. As for allergies, try Claritin, e.g., works really well for me.

Well if you know your dog isn’t good with other people. Then muscle it, or keep it yo the side, tell people not yo approach, however as a parent I never let my kids walk up to any dog without first consulting the owner , blame on both ,

As a frequent flier, I find the whole emotional support animal thing ridiculous.Who doesn't get some anxiety from air travel ?Does a Shih Tzu in your lap really help?Doubtful. Get some focus and determination and handle your business with the dog - or peacock - left at home.

This is what you get when “emotional support” animals are treated as a necessity. Until these animals are trained the same way as seeing eye dogs they MUST be banned.

NO 1 should approach any dog they don't already know. The dog was "working" when it was w/it's owner. I blame the kids parents 4 this 1.

Public in general must learn that just because they see the cute dog it is NOT acceptable for them to approach & interrupt them when they are working. I have a service dog & although I should not, I leave him at home sometimes because I don’t want to deal with the interruptions.
