It's a shame. He froze.. plain and simple, he froze. And they expect teachers to back up the cops?

Hindsight is 20/20. Let’s get the story here before we vilify this guy. Real life is not like TV where the police have 100% knowledge and communication. These situations are fluid. Just saying.

Maybe I’m confused but what does this article have to do with banning guns? As some on this thread keep bringing up.
-
Well, all of these issues are obviously interlaced, so just the mere mention of the shooting itself will conjure up a variety of discussion topics. The officer who is the focus of this article was faced with a situation where a kid was wielding an assault weapon, and he obviously
-
felt “outgunned”, so naturally, one can expect the topic of gun control to be discussed alongside the topic of whether or not the officer reacted appropriately...

The Orlando nightclub has armed officers on the scene. A gunfight ensued within a darkened bldg filled w/ screaming ppl. Do u not think some were probably friendly fire accidents? Now take a less trained teacher in a bldg with screaming kids and wht do u think will happen?
-
You must be (erroneously) thinking that I’m in support of arming teachers...I am most definitely, unequivocally, irrefutably NOT! I was merely explaining why people are bringing in the issue of gun control. You and I both have military experience, and obviously know better than

to think that something that crazy could even begin to work in a chaotic environment. Seasoned cops have “made the wrong call”, soldiers have “made the wrong call”, there is no way that I’d ever want to saddle an educator with that responsibility, nor would I be comfortable with

my own children being in a classroom where the teacher is “strapped”. There are other things that can and should be done lonnng before we drop down to that level...

Combat, and no other word for it, is a tricky situation. Fear overcomes, but training should have kicked in. Training and courage are inseperable, and only that sheriff can tell us what he was thinking. It would help in training other security officers.

Where’s the good guy with a gun saving the day scenario that the Republican Party and
@DLoesch and@waynelapierrejr promised will protect our kids at? That good guy knew there was a crazy guy with an assault rifle in that school and he was too afraid to go in.#MAGA#CPAC2018 -
I understand your point, but do you think that we should make a policy decision based on this one incident?

List of school shootings: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_school_shootings_in_the_United_States … Mass shootings: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_shootings_in_the_United_States# … Still think I’m hysterical?

Poor guy. They're making him a patsy for the failings of the FBI and local cops.
