Completely unacceptable. A teachers job is to teach. Your job is to protect them. Put your resources correctly.

How about start banning guns like the AR-15. Maybe a 3 month waiting period to purchase a gun. Raise the age to purchase and buyer must take a gun safety class.

What constitutes highly trained? If it is anything like his cabinet appointments...trouble, trouble, trouble. As a highly qualified educator 45 and his supporters of this idea can keep their guns off my campus and out of my classroom. This will not make schools safer. Period.

Wow I think all of you are missing the point... No one is forcing a teacher to hold a gun but why not if they are trained and competent to do so...it could only make some schools feel safer.. I realize that it is a slippery slope also...

How do we regulate lethal weapon storage so the “highly trained” teacher’s gun doesn’t end up in the hands of a curious 6 year old or a disturbed 13 year old? What happens if the teacher has a bad day and snaps?

Then that’s teacher has a serious psychological condition and that brings up the issue at hand... I guess we need to do better background checks and psychological checks on teachers..

The one kid who thinks its funny, lights firecrackers in school. An armed teachers response? I can see serious issues with this idea.

Trump needed hand written notes to remind himself to pretend to care about this situation. And he refused to take part in the town hall. Remember that on Election Day!

So...during the interview process, no matter how good a teacher you are, the question will be asked and in most cases be the determining factor in getting the job: “Are you willing to carry a gun in school?”

.@realDonaldTrump always speaks from a reactionary place of fear & hatred. Never gets out in front to assume a leadership role, calm fears, find solutions. Too bad assuming a leadership role is ... you know... his job.
