Iceland's legislation would impose a six-year jail term on anyone who "removes part or all of (a child's) sexual organs" for non-medical reasons.https://usat.ly/2EThzOE

No one should have the right to remove or mutilate the body parts of children under the guise of religious freedom. Babies and children can't give consent to such things.

Circumcision is absolutely needed in Semitic religions. It's part of the initial covenant (contract). It's also proven as a healthy means of preventing cervical cancer and other benefits. Leaving the country to safe guard your males is smart. Not for girls.

Good for Iceland, hopefully this new legislation covers FGM. But it's high time ALL civilised nations outlawed ALL/ANY abuse/damage performed on children in the name of religion. It's ALL barbaric savagery & should be stopped now.

Your religion ends where another persons skin begins. It’s rediculous that this is still legal in any civilized state, for non medical reasons on a child.

I mean, if they move on from the practice they can still live there, so not really? There are groups of them that don’t anymore regardless of legality.

I guess that's a clever way of saying Jews are not welcome in Iceland. Aren't they the same country that has almost no Down's Syndrome kids because abortion of such children is strongly encouraged? They're well on their way to a 'clean perfect' country?

Does this count god the young women who are circumcised? They should be banned, it’s a mutilation

This is the dumbest idea ever since research indicates that circumcised males may be up to 60% less likely to contract STDs, HIV or UTIs.https://www.webmd.com/hiv-aids/news/20070329/circumcision-new-weapon-against-aids#1 …
