We’ve given them no alternative. Heartbreaking but awe inspiring.

I was asked if I’d “write up” any students who left without permission...I’m “required” to do it so...yup, “students exercised first amendment rights” resolution: Optional lunch detention—my room: pizza and donuts on me!

Let them. Only hurting them.
-
How is it hurting them? Is it hurting them more or less than seeing their classmates murdered in front of them?
@USATODAY -
They need to be in class learning.
-
Skipping a day to voice their concerns isn't hurting them. Stop being a goofus.
@USATODAY -
Exactly... I applaud these young activists. One day out of school won’t hurt them... more fear and mass murder will. They are the future. Let them lead.
-
Amy, you know if they are outside they have about 4 times the chance of being hit by lightning than being shot at school?
-
Maybe they're worried about getting shot when they aren't at school too.
@AmyLynnBanek@bchowell93@USATODAY -
Good for them exercising 1st Amendment rights. Many will join them too

These young activists make me proud and hold the key to our future. I support them 100%. It is time to act! And don’t tell me I am a liberal, gun-hater, because I am not. But, I can’t stand by and watch kids get murdered this way anymore.

I really think a walkout will do more harm than good. A walkout won’t solve gun violence in schools just my opinion.

As a teacher it is disconcerting the Woman’s Movement is hijacking the issue of school violence. They have an agenda and are using vulnerable young people to promote it. My agenda is to Secure Schools so my students and fellow teachers can feel safe.
