Yes, a raise is better than a bonus and a bonus is better than nothing. Duh. Who are you making this point to? 3rd graders.

Does USA Today think we are stupid? We prefer raises but are happy with bonuses. We didn't get anything under Obama.

It's like you missed the fact that he came into office during a recession with an 8% unemployment rate that was in the process of getting worse, but was only 4.7% when he left.

Oh, by the way: federal minimum wage increased from $6.55/hr to $7.25/hr in July 2009.

If you are depending on the minimum wage I feel for you. The way you increase wages is not through the government. You raise wages with the tax cut bill and preventing companies from hiring illegals. The more demand for workers equals higher wages. Keep Democrats out of govt.

You said we didn't get anything under Obama. I name 2 things we did get, lower unemployment & & higher minimum wage, & now that's not what you're talking about? 😂 You failed economics in school, didn't you? Well, I got an A in Macroeconomics in college. I can explain it to you.

The reason why a high corporate tax rate (such as the one we had during the Eisenhower years) is effective is because corporations don't *want* to pay taxes. They will do whatever they can to avoid it.https://www.epi.org/publication/ib364-corporate-tax-rates-and-economic-growth/ …

Because they're determined to pay as little as possible, a high corporate tax rate means that they put more money into things that make the economy function - building more businesses, hiring more employees, or paying those employees more money, for instance.

Those actions drop the corporation's apparent profits, which means they don't have to pay so much in taxes. It also means, as I've mentioned, that they're supporting the economy. Because you know what happens when employees have more income, right?
