That's why we pay the highest property taxes in the country. Educating kids costs money, and I'm happy to see the results. My daughter got an excellent education in our local school district.

Unfortunately, Utah is the lowest in providing $ to schools. Property tax is around 1k-1500, they put the burden on schools to do tons of fundraising.

That's literally what property taxes are per month where I live, and there's nothing fancy about our house. Regional costs of living play a role too. Jersey is expensive, and salaries reflect that too.

Some people in my town pay 18,000 a year in property taxes. It's ludicrous

Big contributor to Jersey real estate taxes is the culture of home rule. I grew up in Bergen Cty, 70+ towns, almost all with their own everything. Education I'm willing to pay for though.

I grew up in Bergen County, too. Now I border Sussex County. A bit cheaper up here.

Master plan here is to retire to Cape May Point. Literally something like 4 school-age kids in the town, property taxes are pennies on the dollar compared to the rest of the state.

Well 86% of the bottom 15 are. Which does actually line up with 92% of the poorest counties being red...lack of good education. It all needs to be fixed...
