Ironically, in Martin Luther King Jr.'s full speech, he goes on to lament seeing people purchasing cars outside their means, mentioning Chrysler by name.https://usat.ly/2E6DG4w

Yeah, I guess you could be upset that Dodge did that, but the truth is a lot more people just heard the words of Dr. King than would have otherwise.

Its a why to keep people in debt. It is hard to practice financial restraint. To be smart with the money you have and what you have the potential to pay back takes due diligence. Learning the hard way. But improving nontheless.

It's really not that hard. If you make $40k per year, you don't buy a $40k car

Its never that obvious to start. Most people don't get into debt by making large purchases at first. Smaller than that, think credit cards. A purse there, going out to eat here, a vacation there. People are not born financially wise. It is either taught or learned.

That's a cop out. You're whitewashing irresponsible behavior. Any one who has played Monopoly growing up has the financial knowledge to understand that whether you can afford something or not. Unfortunately, too many are too irresponsible to make the right decision

You clearly have never worked for an educational institution. If you had, you would know that not only are people challenged in the financial area of their life, but challenged in literacy as well. Many parents struggle to put food on the table much less buy board games.

Co-opting the message of a civil rights leader for financial gain?!? That would never happen in the USA.

Happens to many historical figures. Their image and edited statements are used as marketing ploys. And consumers are too poorly educated to realize the irony, hypocrisy.
